The rink is working with the board to help reduce some of the risks and concerns due to COVID.
As a result the schedule has changed slightly to allow for more time between practices. This will help ensure that there are fewer people in the rink at any given time and to allow time to clean and sanitize between groups. Please view the schedule changes on our website.
Learn to Skate is scheduled to begin November 20th at 5:15 PM at AC North. Registration will be open early next week. Please continue to check our Website for updates.

PYH Families,
GOOD NEWS!! The ice is finally ready at AC North. Last evening our scheduling director spoke with the rink owner and secured our ice times.
Our first Pre-Season skate will be this Friday at 5:15 for 10U (Squirts) and 6:30 for 12U(PeeWee). Mites first skate will be this Sunday, the 18th at 1:00 pm. If you wish to take advantage of these skates please register before Friday. The dates for the rest of our pre-season skates will be in a future update.
Please bear with us as we are working under tight time constraints. We are working now to schedule which age groups will skate at what times. More information to come in the next couple of days.
Tryouts for 10U and 12U have been scheduled for Monday, October 26th and Wednesday, October 28th.
More information is forthcoming, however please understand that there will be specific COVID related procedures in place by both PYH and the rink.
Masks will be required for all players. If you prefer the CCM mask that fits inside the helmet, they are currently in stock at Play It Again Sports.
We have a meeting with the New York State Amateur Hockey Association this evening and hope to have more information to share regarding COVID tracing procedures and regulations.
Keep an eye on your email, our website and Facebook page in the coming days for further information.
We are excited to be moving in the right direction and can’t wait to see our players back on the ice!
PYH families,
Thank you for your patience as the organization works to solidify a plan to open the 2020-2021 hockey season. We are working closely with AC North to confirm practice times for each age group and hope we can share details shortly.
Tentatively, the board hopes to offer 2 weeks of preseason skating prior to holding squirt and peewee level tryouts. We are aiming for the week of 10/25-10/30 for try-outs, however we need confirmation from the rink.
Our scheduling director is still awaiting word from the rink as to when they will allow us to start scheduling ice time. Once we have exact dates and times for preseason skates and tryouts, we will be sure to share across social media and send email updates.
You will need to be registered in order to participate in any pre-season activity.
We understand some of you have concerns about the board’s decision to consider registration refunds at the end of the season. The reasons behind this decision include unanticipated changes to the season based on state mandate COVID-19 parameters. Internally, PYH pays an hourly rate for ice time, but the organization only gets an invoice from the rink 2-3 times during the entire season. After we settle any payments, we can determine un-utilized ice time. Once the board’s treasury determines a surplus of funds, plans will be in place to refund accordingly. If you have unusual or unexpected financial circumstances that warrant an early refund request, please reach out to a board member.
We encourage you all to register so that you are ready to go when we get the word that the rink is ready- which will hopefully be very soon. We want to get everyone on the ice as soon as possible.
Please be aware that we are mandated to follow any rules and restrictions set forth by New York State. Based on what we know right now we believe that we will not be allowed to play competitively in NYS until after the New Year. As a result, the first half of the season MAY be primarily skill development.
All local hockey organizations will have the same requirements and restrictions. Playing for another organization will not change these facts.
Things are constantly changing and the board is working to get this season started as soon as possible.
We will be in touch through email soon with the dates for our pre season skates.
Hello PYH families!
A quick update from the PYH Board:
We are continuing to work and plan for the upcoming season. We are working with AC North to schedule upcoming pre-season skates, tryouts and practices. We are awaiting final word as to when the rink will be open and available to us.
NYS Amateur Hockey Association has an upcoming meeting in a couple of weeks. We hope to have more information as to what NYS will require concerning COVID restrictions, games, etc.
Our Peewee A team has been entered as a state bound team for the upcoming season.
Our next board meeting will be held at AC North on Monday, October 5th, at 6:30 pm in the warm room. Please note that masks and social distancing will be required.
There are still many unknowns. Please rest assured that we are working diligently to plan for whatever the season may bring.
We will email and update our website as soon as more information is available.
I hope that all of our hockey families are healthy. The primary purpose of this email is to announce the opening of 2020-21 season registration. However, I also want to provide you an update on youth hockey in the North Country.
First, we have opened registration for the 2020-21 hockey season. You are probably asking why? Well, we need players to register in order to secure coaches, reserve ice time for next year, order supplies, and to allow sufficient time to order jerseys. As these are difficult times, and many people are struggling financially, we are dropping the registration deposit to $75 and the first installment is not due until September 1st.
Second, I want to provide an update on youth hockey in the North Country. Sadly, all hockey in the area is still on pause as a non-essential activity per the NYS Governor. AC North Arena also continues to remain closed. We are currently taking directives from USA Hockey and NYS Amateur Hockey Association (NYSAHA). USA Hockey and NYSAHA have mandated there be no hockey activities, including tryouts, until further notice. Basically, hockey in our area and across the state has been paused by governing bodies, but we want to be ready as soon as we are allowed to resume!
The Board has discussed pre-season skates for all registered PYH players in mid-August through mid-September as long as allowable by NYS. The Board has also been discussing what new protocols will be implemented when youth hockey is allowed to resume. Any new protocols will be based on guidance from USAHockey and NYSAHA.
Contact us with any questions and please register at your earliest opportunity so your player can take advantage of the pre-season skates.
Stay safe and enjoy your family time.
Daniel Darrah
President, PYH
Registration Information
We have switched this year to a new registration and team management system. Our previous registration system closed its doors. We are now using SportsEngine. You will need to create a new account on SportsEngine, however SportsEngine is used by a lot of organizations and sports and once you create an account you are all set. We will also be using this platform for team communication and management instead of TeamSnap starting this year.

It’s summertime and often the last thing you are thinking about is next hockey season.
Well this is actually the time to start thinking about it. Have you thought about coaching or helping out around the ice during the season? Would you like to be more directly involved with your child’s season? Now is the time to start to think about those things.
Especially with the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming season and the possibility of needing extra ice sessions having certified and ready coaches is important. As many who were involved in the 6U/8U program last year know with so many kids at that level we need as many certified coaches, managers, and volunteers as possible. Before registration even begins those interested in coaching need to prepare so they are certified and qualified to be on or around the ice.
This year with safety concerns and the countries move to online education many of the clinics and classes necessary are available online for the first time, making it easier for you.
